How to maintain multiple versions of the same file ?

You can maintain up to 10 versions of the same file. This option is only available with the Source >> Target synchronization method and if the target is a folder (including network drive). Zip file and FTP server do not accept multiple versions.

What is the Network login ?

The Network login button becomes visible when you select a network drive as source or target. You can provide here the network login (user name and password) to access the resource. This is useful when a script is scheduled and you are not logged.

Is it possible to synchronize to and from CD/DVD ?

Yes you can synchronize data between disk, network disk, FTP server and CD/DVD.
Of course you must use RW medium if the CD/DVD is a target or if the synchronization method is Source>>Target>>Source or Clone. Read only medium (R) can be only used as source in Source>>Target mode.
To write to the medium you need to have a software such as Nero Incd or Roxio Drag to Disc to allow direct access to the medium. CD/DVD are viewed as disks and allows the operating system to read and write. Medium must be formatted using UDF file system.

The size of data must fit the medium size. Synchronizing over multiple media is not possible.
  • If the size of data is larger than the medium you can use a zip compressed folder. Usually the compression rate is around 50%, but if you compress already compressed file, like jpeg file the size reduction is very small (1 to 5 % only).

Opening script from the report :
If you double click over a row when browsing the report,  the script is loaded and displayed. You can access the last process PDF report

Opening script from the geography map
When the geography map is displayed, you can click over the 4th panel of the status bar to display a list of scripts containing the current selected object.
If you double click over a script name in this list, the selected script will be loaded and the user is move automatically to the script view.

Opening PDF report :
PDF files can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat. If Acrobat is not yet installed on your computer you can download the free reader from
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
We use PDF format because it is a standard and we don't think that it is useful to print every time a report. If you need printer function you can get it from the Acrobat reader toolbar.

Sophisticated strategy with meta script :
A meta script is not only a list of scripts to run. By modifying the position of scripts in the list you can create sophisticated backup and synchronization strategy.
By example, you can synchronize first your computer with a notebook then back up files from the computer to a backup device.
On a network (even home network), you can collect files from different computers and then upload these files to a FTP server...

Quick access to Windows folders :
It is painful to browse the tree folder to access Windows folders such as the My documents, My favorites, Public documents...
When the Browse for folder dialog box is displayed, if you click over the folder bitmap (near Select folder), a preview menu gives you quick access to Personal or Common folders.
